The Top Parks and Trails Near Concord Ca

The Contra Costa Canal

Of course, you don’t want to miss one of the most popular spots in the area! This whole-access trail is one of the favorite routes in the Park District network and is a paved path.

The trail intersects several neighborhood parks in Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, and Concord. It runs along the Contra Costa Canal. The trail also follows a wedge route across the core of Contra Costa County.

Iron Horse Trail

Visit San Ramon Valley for an agricultural and ranching experience around the Iron Horse Regional Trail! The Iron Horse Route now links 12 cities and two counties. It passes through peaceful residential areas, bustling business and commercial districts, and shaded greenbelts. This well-known and heavily traveled trail mostly parallels Interstate 680.

Lime Ridge

Lime Ridge is on a prominent ridge heading to Mount Diablo on the eastern edge of Walnut Creek. Hikers can connect with nature by experiencing a wide variety of plant and animal life. Cowell Portland Cement Company ran mining in the area. The company named it Lime Ridge. With numerous plant ecosystems and quarries, there are many hiking, biking, and wildlife observation options.

Markham Nature Park

Are you into gardens and plant life? Markham Area Nature Park & Arboretum is a must-see! Founded by a small group of residents, they created a lovely nursery on their property.

Less than 20 blocks connect the tranquil serenity of Markham Nature Park and Arboretum from Concord’s downtown. Much of it is still in its original state. Its opening is at the southern end of La Vista Ave. Visitors can also find Galindo Creek running through the park.

Mt. Diablo

Are you intrigued about where to get Concord’s best view? Don’t miss Mt. Diablo, State Park! Explore the park’s several trails, which take you to creeks, cliffs, and hillsides with the touch of fresh, crisp air. Relax and have a snack at one of over 50 picnic areas when you’re ready. The gates open at 8:00 a.m. and close during sunset. With trails ranging from easy to tricky, there’s surely something for everyone!
